EQUINE ACUPUNCTURE

Dr. Johnson is specially trained in the use of acupuncture in horses and acupuncture is effective for treating a variety of equine conditions, including but not limited to:

• Post-surgical rehabilitation
• Reproductive problems
• Chronic conditions related to pain, locomotor or mobility issues

Acupuncture is the use of tiny, sterile needles inserted into the body of the horse at specific points.  It is a complementary therapy and is used to complement our routine veterinary care.  Acupuncture may relieve pain, anxiety, muscle soreness and other sources of discomfort in horses.

A thorough myofascial exam identifies regions that would benefit from acupuncture treatment.   The number of treatments your horse may need depends upon the needs of the horse and the desired outcome, we recommend at least three sessions to start.
